Tulum

Geoff and I took a day tour to another city of ruins named Tulum, after the visit to Tulum we traveled to a ecological park Xelha.

This building was built on top of a cave containing water.  Occupants celebrated religious ceremonies here

This is the City Hall (as we would call it) where the town would gather.

Castillo

Religious ceremonies were held in this Castillo.

Templo del Dios Descendente

This temple was a guide for the people of Tulum to determine what time of year it was. The sun would hit small openings on this temple at specific times each year.

This temple also served at a place of religious ceremonies.

Temple del Dios del Viento

This structure is so called because it was built over a circular platform, which is associated with the Wind God.

The wind travels through the temple to emit a sound alerting the villagers to storms.

Xelha is a nature water park.  Geoff is going to take a swim with the Barracudas.

Seen here is the water park.  There is some amazing snorkeling in the inlet.  We saw sting rays, barracudas, tropical

fish and eels.

Scarlet Macaws were some of the wildlife seen throughout the park.

There was also an area where dolphins performed.
