Chengdu

Buddhist Monastery

9-16-02

Arrived in Chengdu at 1230 am and Lilette picked us up and drove us to Lhasa Hotel (3 stars, and for a good reason). We stopped by and talked to Asia, then tried calling the front desk as the next door person had their TV so loud we could not sleep. Well no one spoke English so Asia had to go down and play pictionary to get someone to come up and have them turn off the TV. So we slept like 4-5 hours and then woke up and went to a Buddhist Monastery. We lit some incense prayer sticks and walked around and found a great tea house. Took a taxi back, this guy was a speed demon, and Lilette meet us and took us back to the airport to leave for Tibet.

Taxi Ride

Boarded a crowded plane to Tibet. Once in Tibet we meet Tsetan and our driver Dawa. They greeted us with white scarves made of cotton, symbolizing good luck and welcoming to their providence. We drove 1.5 hours to our hotel and Tsetan filled us with so much history. Dawa sang some songs for us and we tried to sing some for them.

Our Excellent Tea

We went over to the Tibet Lhasa Kitchen, I had a really nice chicken curry meal, Geoff had the Hawaiian pizza with yak meat instead of Canadian bacon, and then I took a Tylenol with codeine (big mistake).
